Spring Inspiration

You never know where you will find inspiration, and sometimes you don't realize your inspiration is right in front of you until after the fact. My sister (the other Mrs. GotRocks) and I traveled to NYC for our regular bead buying extravaganza back in February, and we encountered the most amazing weather. Mid to upper 60s. In New York. In February. On a few of our well traveled paths, we found new Ted Baker stores and the florals in the windows drew us in. I was really taken with the oversized florals on dark backgrounds. So taken, in fact, that I unintentionally built my spring palette around them!  It wasn't until I got home that I realized why I had chosen the beads you see here.  Serendipity!

Say It with Fleurs

Are you a New Orleans Lady?  A Francophile?  A Saint?  Or just a GotRocks fan?  Any way you slice it, how can you say no to this beautiful necklace?  It was lovingly assembled from an antique watch pin, a blue enameled fleur-de-lis pendant and pale chocolate pearls.  Very detailed, but also surprisingly simple ... simply beautiful.  It is a perfect transition piece to take you into fall.  How can you resist?

Brides: It's Old. It's New. It's Blue.

It has the look of an Edwardian "negligee" necklace, while at the same time looking completely fresh and modern. Antique, yet contemporary. The facets and movement of the dangling blue stones give it a little sparkle, while not upstaging the dress, or the bride. Trust me, this will look amazing with your gown. A little old, a little new, a little blue. Borrowed? You'll have to figure that one out on your own.

It's a Big World

image.jpg

The time has come. Graduation. Time for your loved one to leave the nest, spread her wings, learn to fly. An exciting yet bittersweet occasion. One that evokes memories of preschool handprints, skinned knees, endless carpooling, proud moments and lots and lots of laughter, tears, and hard work. You've done all you can to prepare her, but how will she find her way in the big world? This sweet compass necklace is the perfect graduation gift ... an antique fob on a chain of blue goldeneye and citrine. It will help her find her new path AND always find her way back home.

If she happens to be a Francophile, all the better! This little beauty was a souvenir from the French town Langeais. The city's coat of arms can be seen on the back amongst swirling fleur de lis. So sweet and so unique. Send her off in style.

I guess this blog isn't gonna write itself. I don't even know where to begin, except to say how lucky I am to get to do what I love ... find abandoned treasures and turn them into wearable jewelry with an old soul. My hope for this blog is to share with you what inspires me, what I'm working on and what I find along the way. I hope you like what you see.
