February = Amethyst = Love
February, the shortest month of the year, and yet it feels like the longest. That dreadful spot between bitter winter and the first breath of spring, when I find myself wishing I could "fly to St. Somewhere" and put an umbrella in my drink. But there is one thing I love about February ... amethysts. You see, amethyst is the birthstone of February and I LOVE AMETHYSTS. To the Victorians, it symbolized deep love and devotion and was often cut into heart-shaped forms to reinforce the romantic message. So when I think about February, I think about amethysts, which make me think about love, and that makes the month a little more bearable.
